Track 3: APIs and the Internet of Things

The Enterprise Store – Central Intelligence for the Connected Enterprise

Through the course of this conference we hear presentations that address the essential components of the Connected Enterprise: cloud computing, mobile apps, APIs and IoT. This fundamental transformation of IT necessitates breaking enterprises into services that can be composed quickly into new solutions, but this is just the beginning. Enterprises will deploy thousands of on-premise and cloud-based services, apps, IoT devices, and use APIs to “glue” them together to optimize the user experience.

How do we manage this plethora of new IT assets, how do we enable a community of developers that socialize our APIs, and how do we create the transparency that is needed for the agile development process? What does the Store for all Enterprise Connected assets look like? App stores from vendors like Apple and Google are not the solution for Enterprise apps, neither are stand-alone repositories for APIs and properties of physical devices. A combined Store is the next important step in the evolution and the success of the Connected Enterprise.

Highlights of this presentation include:

  • Examples of a next generation Store that combines multiple different types of assets
  • Importance of transparency in reuse and in building applications for the Connected Enterprise
  • Separation of service, API, and application lifecycles
  • Management advantages of an Enterprise Store
