Track 2: Enterprise Mobile Applications

Selecting the Right Architecture, Platforms and Tools for Mobile Applications

This session dives deeper into the practical aspects of developing enterprise applications consisting of desktop and mobile components and workflows. Based on real-world use cases and examples, we highlight the thought processes for identifying the scenarios and functionalities to be supported on mobile and desktop platforms, the strengths and limitations of mobile application designs, how they fit into and augment the overall business processes, and we discuss the different architectural choices for developing mobile applications.

In the second part we share insights on how enterprises can create agile in-house development capabilities for building state-of-the-art mobile experiences that are on par with companies that started as digital enterprises. We outline modern agile development setups, methodologies, strategies, and tools. The session finishes with an outlook about future developments in the mobile enterprise sector.

Highlights of this presentation include:

  • Making the traditional application paradigms multi-platform: Identifying the use cases and functionalities for mobile applications
  • Mobile enterprise application architectures: Delivering scalability, data synchronization, and real-time functionality through cloud components
  • Use cases: Augmentation of a large B2B application through several specialized mobile applications for dedicated pieces of the business processes
  • Mobile platform strategies: HTML5 vs native vs hybrid, and how they are used in the industry today
  • Tools and processes for developing modern mobile experiences in enterprise environments
